Malaysia 2nd Independence – Bersih 4

I have had many personal queries and comments on my global posts of Bersih sent out during this week. Many have quipped why bring politics into what I promote and stand for in my work with empowerment of people.

Bersih 4Bersih, is not just a street March, It is the tipping point for this nation.

Malaysia has weathered a fabulous journey of growth, prosperity and this is not shown just in the physical infrastructure that surrounds the nation today, but more in its people, a tribe (I felt the urge for a social media term), that is well educated; in country and some have settled in various parts of the world. Many had claimed that brain drain on the country loosing such caliber of people in 60’s, 70’s, 80’s & 90’s, to another country, could have been stopped if ……. (The reasons are numerous – not for this blog).

A tribe with a special type of Comradeship, a twig in its flavor, of how it deals and interacts with people…. That innate flavor (a special blend of the east and the west) is rarely found elsewhere, in the colonized world, Lah! This is one part of what the people are fighting for today, in particular freedom.

The other outcomes expected are:Bersih 4 street rally

• Free & fair elections,
• Transparent government,
• Strengthen the parliamentary system,
• Save the national economy,
• Right to Dissent.

Leaving all of this aside, the last thing we do not want to see is where our parents, migrants from India, China and other parts of the world came to this country with the HOPE of providing something better for their children. They toiled hard and contributed to where we are today and where the nation was in the lime light days. We cannot had over to our children (even if they are living abroad – the homing instinct for Malaysia is there amongst them) a broken nation. Bersih is the unified force to create that change……

Bersih 4 flagMalaysia it’s time for a CHANGE…

It’s time for our 2nd Independence.

I would like to share the views of the former president of the Bar Association in Malaysia and Co – Chairperson of Bersih…. Ambiga Sreenevasan.

Unfortunately the Malaysian Government, yesterday has banned a number of website, in it’s bid to curtail freedom of speech…. This was one site that was targeted by the government. there are other ways to circumvent the hurdle….

Meditation – It’s Power

meditation6A powerful pattern for self-realization, self-development, introspection, self-heal…. the list of takeaway from constant practice of meditation is endless. A lot has been written, spoken, preached and today you are about to receive another article on this subject. You could hit the delete button and move on, or, just stop for a moment and check out another perspective of why there is so much attention directed at this subject called MEDITATION.

My purpose for putting pen to paper on this topic, primarily stems from the cries of participants, mentee, coaches, peers, friends, and relatives on how to better handle certain aspects of their life – personal & professional. It is even more interesting how the unconscious or to some the sub-conscious mind directs through signs for this to happen. Following my training sessions conducted last week, I found there was a need to further address the subject of Meditation. All through the week there were signs – a distress phone call for help -where state change was created through breathing & meditation, a meditation article in a magazine, a Facebook post on meditation, so much so that I thought, let me pen a few words on my perspective of meditation. My first encounter with meditation, my feeling about it then and how over time this changed my thinking and how today, I look at the subject of meditation as a healing process for the mental & physical well-being of a person.

“When the man / women is right inside…… The world will be right…….” a powerful true statement.

I grew up in the 70’s & 80’s where at social gatherings, meditation was spoken off, particularly at student parties, community discussions on campus and elsewhere…. The after mart of Hippie Era. So, if you did not know or speak about it in those environment, you were not “hip”. I would snub and shun away from those communique, primarily because all I related about the subject was, it was practiced by hippie, “drugie”, meditation5long haired groupies, that talked of meditation, pyramids and crystals. They would talk of meditation under a man-made pyramid structure in their lounge. My conclusion… what a bunch of weirdos. Today, on reflection I wondered how closed and narrow minded, my perspective was of these people, more than that, how bigoted I was about the subject of meditation. Little did I know / understand the implications of this practice, what it does and can do for a person.

With time, my whole outlook of the subject had changed, through exposure, education and self-practice of meditation. Today, with a bit more understanding, exposure, learning, experience and practice, I see meditation as the best remedy for many dysfunctional behavior & life pattern changes, that we as human beings can benefit, if we practice meditation regularly.

Mediation as such, is a vast topic. I would not do justice in addressing the topic of meditation in one blog. I will in this blog, just whet your appetite and provide a brief to this subject, with the hope that you get a feel of what it is and what it can do for your holistic well-being. In my future blogs, I will further share my perspective of what it does, how to meditate, why we need to practice it especially in today’s environment, and what are its outcomes.

Interesting enough, today when I share this concept to many, a percent of the audience, still looks at me with skepticism…. In response, rather than argue, defend or justify the benefits out of meditating, my inner self directs me to understand…. “When the student is ready, the teacher will arrive”… just as it happened to me. So we just move on, with the hope that the individual will follow the sizzle, and in time, commence on the practice and enjoy the outcome… of meditation of self-betterment.

The Base of Meditation

Vedanta Philosophy explains what a mental process meditation is, and goes on to say, concentration (Sanskrit – Dharana) is the base stage of this process. With continuous practice, this concentration becomes effortless and continuous, thereby progressing to the state of meditation (dhyana). The mind is ready to flow continuously to the required objective. The culmination of this process is total absorption (Samadhi). Put basically, this is the journey one would take in the practice of meditation: Concentration / Meditation / Absorption or in Sanskrit, Dharana / Dhyana / Samadhi

Meditation & Concentration

Today meditation to some, is understood as deep concentration (laser beam) on an object. Indirectly what this means, everyone mediates 24/7, as we concentrate a lot daily on almost everything, from survival to success in life. It’s through the power of concentration that we activate our five physical sense, visual, auditory, kinestitic, olfactory and gastro (VAKOG). Though concentration the mind acquires the quality of lens to absorb the knowledge on the subject. Meditation is the gateway of learning for the outer and inner world of our self.

Meditation & Reflective Reasoning

Reasoning is when a person achieves a clear logical understanding of things / issues etc. Meditation is a perception of that. Reasoning stems from the head, while mediation is heart driven, the home of our spirit.

Meditation & Contemplation

During the process of Contemplation many spend time reflecting, some take it to the stage of reflection through to the supreme being within oneself their spirit (or God for many). Meditation is more than contemplation, it’s the flow of the mind towards it. Akin this to a bee, buzzing around a flower waiting to rest on the flower and sip the nectar. The state of meditation is when the bee is rested on the flower and tasting the sweet nectar.

Meditation & Prayer

There is a distinction between prayer and meditation. Prayer is directed to a personal divine spirit. Meditation begins with effort, but ends with the absorption into the spirit within oneself … images concepts, techniques, patterns are all stepping stones in this journey. Best reflection of this is… we PRAYER (communicate) to God, and while we are in MEDITATION we listen to the soundless spirit (God) within us, which brings us in union with that spirit.

In my future blogs, I will cover the following aspects of mediation:

Meditation a technique to gain mastery over the mind, by cultivating a single thought.
Meditation is a natural necessity for the soul, and to provide the mind with rest and rejuvenation
Meditation, like music with relevant pauses extenuates the sound of the music….
Meditation awakens the dormant power of the mind

To provide a scientific understanding of meditation, and if done properly what are its outcomes and healing powers to man, I refer you to the video link below titles, the scientific power of meditation.

Happy Independence Day – India 2015

On 14th February 2014, the Indian Supreme Court recognized transgender people as a third gender, with equal opportunity within India. The transgender community’s acknowledgement of this significant move, by their singing the Indian National Anthem Jana–Gana–Mana. (Explanation for foreign viewers to appreciate and understand)

Gandhi satyagrahaTo the rest of India, HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY. 59 years ago the Gandhi movement liberated this nation from British rule.

As one of the major economies for the last few centuries prior to British rule, India as a nation was raped and brought to its knees as a poverty stricken third world country during the British rule.

Its it wisdom, mother land England felt it in order to rob India of its resources and when Independence was granted there was little left of it to make a full meal off. Most if not all of its resources was redistributed through Britain to other parts of the world.

From that black hole of Calcutta (East India Company – the British trading house), a new nation was born…. through the girt and tenacity of  our parents, who lived on porridge as staple meal, to ensure their investment – their child was educated. Today that child is the birth of a newgandhi peace (1) nation – THE NEW INDIA…. They have and are conquering the world through their skill, expertise and knowledge… A passive Movement, the sleeping giant is just awakening…… The Pepsi, the Microsoft, the Googles of the world have recognized this, and many more in the not too distant future will.

The Ocean’s Cry……

A world power pack team, collaborated together in forming an organization called “Conservation International.”

ocean bedTheir focus is on a wide range of topics related to ecosystems, biodiversity, and human well-being, all around the world, with the intent of creating social awareness of what we as humans do without any rhyme or reason to this planet.

Friends it has gone for ages, where we unknowingly have tortured and raped this world, and still continue to do so without any remorse. This would have been forgivable a few century’s ago, and we would have brushed it off, by saying we did not know.

Today, friends in this world of technology, that is just but a lame excuse. We are more educated, more aware, more conscious, more, more, more, but what do we do…. Still torture & rape this planet.

Take heed friends…. here is their first message…..Ocean bed starfish
The voice of the Ocean……Our life Savior, our feed, our everything, is sharing its feeling, its cry, its pain, …its dying anguish through this video.…..
